CBH+A provided a thorough feasibility study and the development of site-specific Educational Specifications so that John Eager Howard Elementary School could meet the vision of the Baltimore City Public Schools 21st Century Buildings Initiative. CBH+A is now leading the design of the redevelopment of this designated “Community School.” JEH will provide an instructional center for students grades PK-5 and a user-friendly center for the community.

On the Boards Classroom Buildings
The team from CBH+A have been excellent partners throughout the entire educational specifications and feasibility study process... Their team went above and beyond to demonstrate a deep understanding of what is important to our school community, and was thoughtful and thorough in their work with us.
Tamara Hanson, Principal, John Eager Howard Elementary School
The entire process had an enormous amount of community input and because of this the final product is welcomed warmly by the surrounding community.
By setting up one of the community meetings as a game of monopoly, CBH+A was able to present a fun, unifying approach to some complicated and controversial decisions. Using monopoly money and game boards, students and their parents, administrators, teachers, and community leaders were asked to allocate their money across important programmatic elements: Music & Art, Cafeteria, Outdoor Spaces, Technology, and others.
