This
project adapted an existing barn into a studio residence.
The design focused on maintaining the integrity of the
original stone foundation, wood structure, and interior
details while incorporating sustainable design principles
and products. Using concepts of perma-cultural living
cycles, a self-sustained energy system was designed
that included passive/active solar power, dry composting
waste, gray water systems and sustainable materials
in its construction. The unique character of the old
stable and the milking stalls were preserved as features
in the dwelling. |
